How Can Therapy Help?

Therapy or counselling can help with so many things. People suffering from anxiety, stress, depression, & agitation. Sometimes work-related issues affect us so much that we can’t function productively anymore we can work together to help you bring about change.
You may be struggling with low mood, or anger that overwhelms you, or you may have a sense of emptiness in your life in general. You may choose to go for therapy because you are interested in understanding about yourself, your development and personal growth.
I have experience in working with neurodivergent clients; ADHD, dyspraxia, and Dyslexia.
It’s not just about talking about these things, it’s having some insight into why we may feel why we do react or feel the way we do, and having some Psycho-Education, in order to help us understand ourselves.
I also offer family counselling from an Adlerian perspective, perhaps relationships have broken down, or maybe there is problems relating to each other, or you could be struggling with kids with behaviour problems or special needs, I can offer some solution focussed therapy which would be short term.
What benefits are there from therapy?
What to expect on your visit?
For those clients who prefer to work from the comfort of their own home, I can offer Zoom sessions. For those wishing for face-to-face counselling, my practice is totally private and set in the centre of Ashbourne, where we can sit comfortably, quietly, and privately, to talk.
On a Zoom call, I would send you a link, and then we would chat for 50 minutes each week. If I see you face to face, you can park close to the practice, sit in the waiting room, and then come the cosy room where we have comfy chairs to sit and can talk in private. To ensure privacy I make sure that there is enough time between each client.
“When society is not equipped to hold an accurate mirror up to you, you end up interpreting your reflection according to available lenses, structures, and terminology. But they’re often wrong and misleading, or worse, harmful” (Nerenberg, 2021).
Confidentiality

All discussions that take place in your therapy sessions are treated as confidential with the following exceptions.
I am required to engage with supervision which I do so on a frequent basis. My supervisor is UKCP and BACP accredited, therefore I follow their guidelines within my own practice. Within my own practice and in accordance with UKCP and BACP guidelines there would be always strict confidentiality. Anything discussed with a supervisor would remain anonymous.
The fee for each 50 minute session is £55, which needs to be paid prior to each meeting via a BACS transaction.
